Welcome to the Lafayette Public Library volunteer portal! The Lafayette Public Library is a vibrant hub for connection, creativity, and lifelong learning in our community. From books and digital resources to innovative programs and welcoming spaces for all ages, the Library offers opportunities to explore, discover, and grow. Our dedicated volunteers help us expand services, strengthen community, and create meaningful experiences for everyone who walks through our doors.
Not all volunteer roles have current openings. Feel free to submit an application and let us know how you would like to help.
Typical Opportunities for ages 18 and older:
- Library volunteers - help with paging or shelving
- Makerspace volunteers - assist staff in supporting users of the Studio 775 Makerspace during drop-in hours
- Conversation Group Facilitators - depending on your background in languages or other skills and interests, sign up to facilitate an English, Spanish, or Writers weekly drop-in group.
Typical or Seasonal Opportunities for Teen Team (ages 14-17, or 18 if still in high school)
- Summer Reading Program - help at information tables or events, or assist librarians during offsite Storytimes.
- Big Buddies - play games and do fun activities with younger kids in Maker Buddies, Reading Buddies, Writing Buddies, or Spanish Buddies
- Special Events - help out at one or more events during the year
- Teen Service - assist staff with general Library projects
