Teen Service opportunities allow teens 14-17 to sign up for short shifts to assist with a Library project (such as dusting, straightening, organizing supplies or crafts, or occasional light shelving), earning credit for each hour served. Other Teen Service opportunities include helping at special events hosted by the Library throughout the year.

Examples of these events include summer music performances and offsite Storytimes, fall Mini-Con, or the MLK March for Peace in January (via LYAB, the Lafayette Youth Advisory Board). Teen volunteers sign up for individual shifts, typically of two hours, and may assist performers, artists, and staff with setup/cleanup, head counts, book giveaways, and other activities. Volunteers earn credit for each hour served.

Volunteers ages 14-17: sign up to participate in the Library’s Teen Spanish Buddies program! Read and play games with kids in grades K-3. Volunteers commit to an entire multi-week session and earn service hours each week. Training is provided at the first meeting.

Volunteers are teens 14-17 who staff the information desk during the Library's Summer Reading Program (SRP) during June and July. Volunteers enroll patrons, give out prizes, help with crafts, and answer questions. Teens earn volunteer credit for each hour served and can choose from a variety of 2-hour shifts.
